Halloween 2022

Halloween is tomorrow! Are you looking for a last-minute event or activity to do with the kids? Look no further! I have done the research and pulled together a list of all of the fun Halloween events happening around town the next few days – as well as a few craft/art projects to try with the kids. Happy Halloween!

Events Around Town

Halloween at Malahat Skywalk: The new Malahat Skywalk has a weekend full of Halloween activities planned for October 29th-31st. Make a treat bag, go trick or treating, and experience a magic show (Sunday) or face painting (Monday).

Saanichton Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch: Make your way through the 4-acre corn maze or choose a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Purchase your tickets online – last day appears to be October 30th!

The pumpkin patch at Michell’s Farm: The Pumpkin Patch at Michell’s Farm is open Tues-Sun 9:30am-4:30pm. Pick out a pumpkin and take some photos with the Fall/Halloween displays!

Pumpkins at Bickford Farms: Another pumpkin patch to explore, take photographs, and choose a pumpkin to carve!

Halloween Scavenger Hunt at the Sidney Museum: From now until October 31st, find all 13 pumpkins to enter to win a $100 gift card to Buddies Toys!

Tally Ho Halloween Tours: I have never been on a Tally Ho tour before, but I’ve seen the beautiful horses around town. This tour is all about spooky, ghostly locations around Victoria – last day is October 31st!

BC Forest Discovery Center Halloween Train: The BC Forest Discovery Center is about an hour or so up island from Victoria, but it could be worth the road trip for this fun event! Last day is October 31st – book your tickets online.

Wicked Victoria 2022: On Sunday October 30th, Wicked Victoria will be held from 11am-3pm on Government Street. Bring the kids and enjoy live entertainment, kid and pet costume contests, games, and more!

M2 Graphix Second Annual Trunk or Treat: October 30th from 12-3pm, enjoy a spooky afternoon car meet, filled with trick or treating fun, contests, cool cars, music, and food vendors. Held at 1047 Langford Parkway.

Panorama’s Halloween Costume Parade Skate: Sunday October 30th from 12:45-1:45pm, join Panorama for their Halloween Costume Parade Skate! Don’t forget your trick or treat bag!

Family Friendly Costume Ride: On Sunday October 30th at 3pm, Capital Bike is hosting a family friendly costume ride. Show off your Halloween costume in this slow-paced ride, complete with Halloween music, and a tasty treat at the end!

Panorama’s Halloween Costume Parade at Kindergym: On October 31st from 9:30-11am, little ones (1-5 years old) can attend Panorama’s Kindergym to show off their costumes and do a bit of “trick or treating!”

Oak Bay Trick or Treat on the Avenue & Bonfire at Firefighter’s Park: Each year Oak Bay organizes a trick or treating event for kids along Oak Bay Avenue. The evening finishes with a giant bonfire at Firefighter’s Park.

City of Langford Treat Street: Take your little ones down to Langford Station on October 31st from 5:30-8:30pm for an evening of Halloween activities! The fun includes trick or treating, free hotdogs and treats, live music, photo opportunities, games, and much more.

Sidney’s Treat Street: This will be the 8th year of Sidney’s Treat Street – a perfect Halloween event for little ones! Downtown Sidney is closed to traffic, and children can trick or treat at the local businesses.

Esquimalt Lion’s Halloween Fire Hall Spooktacular: Head down to the Esquimalt Fire Hall on October 31st from 5-9pm for a tour of the spooky fire hall, bouncy castle, Halloween movie, and a hot dog and hot chocolate! All food and drinks are by donation.

Gorge Park Pumpkin Parade: Tuesday November 1st, take part in the community pumpkin parade! Drop off your carved pumpkin between 3-5pm, and then return from 6-8pm to take a spooky stroll to check out all of the lit-up pumpkins!

Crafts & Activities

Halloween Hunt: Last year, I created a Halloween scavenger hunt for our children. I wrote 10 rhyming clues that took the kids all around the house – and eventually to a Halloween basket. Instead of candy I included things like tattoos, stickers, colouring books, glow in the dark bracelets, a Halloween book, and so on. The kids loved it!

Halloween Shadow Puppet Play: Last Halloween, my Mom put together an incredible Shadow Puppet Play. She created the shadow puppet box and characters and read and acted out the sweet story of The Little Ghost Who Lost Her Boo by Elaine Bickell.

DIY Halloween Village by HGTV: I love this idea of turning wooden birdhouses into a cute Halloween village!

Stained Glass Halloween Sun Catcher by Mosswood Connections: This is a simple yet gorgeous Halloween craft for the kids: a stained-glass sun catcher created using coloured tissue paper!

Glue and Salt Spiderweb Craft by Teach Beside Me: This is such a beautiful and creative project, using only glue, table salt, and watercolour paints!

Halloween Handprint Art by The Best Ideas for Kids: This is a cute and easy activity for little ones to do.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful Halloween!
